Keyhaven, although small comes complete with its' own pub, 'The Gun Inn' where atmosphere is brimming and wholesome home cooked food, equipped with a beer garden and an open fire complimenting every variation of Hampshire weather just at the end of the road.
In the harbour, you'll be able to catch a ferry to Hurst castle, walk up the shingle or source sandy beaches in only a 15 minute stroll from the cottage itself, (not to mention the trusty ice cream van you'll pass rain or shine!) Paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and swimming are a common sight at Milford and local rental companies can accommodate these activities, if desired. The family claim that a trip to 'the beach house' isn't complete without a spot of crabbing- (worryingly the most success comes when using 'seafood sticks.') Dinghy sailing is also a popular pastime.
Some of our favourite days out in the area consist of Geocaching in the New Forest, (always equipped with a picnic) and walking boots to cope with the sludge across the bracken to get to the best spots, days out at Beaulieu, the transport museum- where the grounds are stunning, the monorail lots of fun and the vehicles are something to 'oggle' at all day long. Not forgetting, Burley for a bit of ''witching" themed fun where the donkeys always seem to be on the prowl. We like to venture to Bournemouth for the day where there's golden sand, the Oceanarium, arcades in every direction you turn on the beach and plenty of events going on.
